Yanis Varoufakis answers Alfredo on the next financial/economic crisis

Yes, but I would take it further. It is a gross error, a magnificent fallacy,
to think that the economic crisis has ended and we’re perhaps heading towards another
one. The economic crisis that hit us in 2008, beginning
with Wall Street and Lehman Brother, before it came across the Atlantic Ocean to wreck
Europe effectively – look at the state of the European Union today, it’s just falling
apart, it’s fragmenting. That crisis never went away, it is changing
form, it is mutating, it takes different forms in different parts of Europe, but it is the
same crisis, it’s never gone away. What’s happening in Italy today – the
rise of fascism and racism – is part and parcel of the same ongoing crisis. The establishment wants to pretend that they
solved that crisis, but we shouldn’t fall for it. The crisis has never gone away and what you’re
fearing is correct, but not in the sense of a new crisis coming, but of the moving of
the old crisis in ways that are detrimental to the interests of all Europeans.
