US Politics in 60 Seconds – December 3, 2018

Hi, it’s Ben White chief economic correspondent
for POLITICO with US Politics in just 60 Seconds! All right let’s start the clock. Well his most lasting legacy will be serving
with honor and integrity. On the policy front, it’s managing the end of the Cold War and
also on trade the original NAFTA, a general sense that trade is good. President Trump trying to change some of that
legacy. It’s definitely a win. He’s making some progress with the Chinese. The devil will be in the details here, exactly
what they’ll buy, when they’ll buy it. And if President Trump can get some real movement
on some of the more significant issues. But it was a good weekend for Trump at the
G20. It’s going to be very difficult. Democrats want changes in the deal and the
environment and labor standards. Trump has said he’ll pull out of the old NAFTA. So sort of putting a gun to the head of Congress. It’s going to be tough but I think ultimately
they will pass the new deal. I’m not sure that he will. It’s going to be behind closed doors so we
won’t get to see Comey respond to these questions but he will get to release the transcript
of the interchanges. So we’ll get to see what he said to House
Republicans on the Hillary email investigation and everything else. Republicans will look
to score points. Comey will release the transcript and hope
that history judges him well. All right. That’s your U.S. Politics in just 60 Seconds! I’m Ben White.
