President Park Geun-hye says she was impressed
by a joint statement calling for an improvement of human rights in North Korea, adopted by
the International Democrat Union, a conservative alliance of political parties.
At a luncheon with the union members, the president talked about the rights abuses and
famine prevalent in the North, while the regime continues on a path of international isolation
with its nuclear arms development. She then asked the IDU to continuously support
international efforts to peacefully reunite the two Koreas.
