Iran: Documents Indicate U.S. ‘Attempting to Take Advantage’ of Protests – FM Spokesperson

“We recommend that they [foreign countries] observe the marches, especially today, and see who the real people in Iran are and what they are saying.” “We are surprised with the level of foreign diplomacy of some countries, their foreign ministers and foreign ministry spokespersons have lowered their ranks so badly that they ask [protesters] to send them videos and reports on burning of banks, ATMs and buildings. This is embarrassing.” “Rioters have always been different from the people. The groups who were led [from outside] and joined this arena with weapons have been always separate from the people. Moreover, we hope that countries, both unknowingly and knowingly — it seems to be knowingly, accept the responsibilities of the support towards these riots and rioters.” “I do not reject their [US] abuse of these events and there are also documents indicating that they are attempting to take advantage of these events and they also tend to see that people are under pressure until they might put pressure on the government, like Mr. Pompeo’s remarks clearly said that Iranian people should be starved as much as possible until they surrender themselves to Americans’ pressures.” “These statements and interferences [by US officials] were not a sign of their goodwill or friendship with the Iranian people; they are seeking to heighten the tensions and riots and also escalating tensions inside the country which refers to their past strategy which is putting pressure from inside, putting pressure on ordinary Iranian people until they might put pressure on the administration then they [US] can achieve their regional and international demands.”
