Age, race and gender split in political parties could lead to voter discrimination

Young women are really becoming the core of the democratic party support and older men becoming the core of the republican party support. Those are their bases. And this is new. This is really a new moment. We didn’t have this before. Women voted much more like men, and young people voted like their parents. The distinction between voting suppression because of age and voting suppression because of race is becoming more mixed. Its not clear what the motivations are. Are early voting sites being moved away from college campuses because young people are more likely to vote democratic because they are young? Or because there are more people of color in that population. Partisans are much more motivated to either turn out or suppress young people’s voting because its more predictable how they will vote.
