The United States’ Government brings its support to the Malagasy population and the Governmen of Madagascar through the USAID. In order to strengthen the plague outbreak response, community platforms developed by the USAID which covered fifteen (15) regions of the country, are already available to sustain the community response against plague, especially by making communities sensitive, searching for the patients`s contacts, contribution to cleaning up measures and the community surveillance. Ten vehicles have been made available in order to take care and transport the patients and to store different types of equipment. Four (04) mobile video units are also available to provide critical plague prevention, symptoms and treatment messages to Fokontany. The U.S. embassy has provided 301,000 gloves and 132,000 respirators and masks which the first tranche was donated on Tuesday, October 10. All of these was realized through and in partnership with the World Health Organization.
